whose time are you on?
poetic reflection on daylight savings + a year of retrogrades
it’s March and i’m still writing 2024 to date my journals and calendars. what even is time? i ask the birds chirping me awake doesn’t it feel like the earth is moving faster? like 1 hour is actually 30 minutes. like the winter was long but also too short? how was your flight to hibernation? do you feel well-rested? the birds chirp a song i’m not ready to listen to. the music, the medicine comes when we least desire it. i ask the winds knocking people’s ears off their heads doesn’t it feel like we’re literally being halved? not into shareable pieces but picked apart —undone at the seams of whatever is left in the fabric of humanity. what is even precious anymore? Spring is upon us. soon it’ll be Summer. on this Land blessed and cursed with four seasons. soon, we’ll grow new ears (still not made particularly well for listening but, hey, they’re recyclable); it’ll be Summer soon and we’ll pop like kernels under extreme heat, in a melting pot of climate pressure it’s March20242025 according to gregory whosetimeside are you on? the Sun asks the Moon who asks Mars who goes retrograde just to see Venus who asks Me to ask The Birds, The Winds whosesidetime are you on?
author's note💌hello beloveds! long while, no communion. to shorten the tale of my recent, impromptu sabbatical: february was just wildly busy work-wise, and i got sick the week after Valentine’s Day and am just now feeling fully recovered. #beingimmunocompromisedsucks
i’m so excited to be backkkkk ! i’m easing into things with some poems off the dome —poems that come to me in the shower/right before falling asleep/while i’m cooking (which has taught me the patient art of cooking on low-med low so i don’t burn all my food), you know the usual liminal times and spaces that tend to be woefully *inconvenient*. and i’ll be back to processing the process in a couple more weeks. in the meantime,
